Draper Temple Open House

Draper Temple, Draper Utah

On Friday, January 23rd, I attended the Draper Temple Open House with my 12 year old niecel, Britney, and her friend Ally. It was a wonderful experience. This temple is one of the smaller temples but has 12 sealing rooms with the largest holding up to 80 people. It is the 129th temple of the LDS church and the 12th temple in Utah. The granite for te exterior is imported from China and several of the interior finishes were also imported, including limestone from France and cherry wood from central Africa. It is absolutely beautiful with colors of blue, green, tan, beige, ets. It's different from any other temple I have been in and I think it is my favorite temple so far. Here is a link from KSL.com to look at other pictures of the temple. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=5322959&nid=148

I also really enjoyed the time with Ally and Britney. They are so cute but can be very silly. Although, they both said they really enjoyed the tour and seemed interested in the different rooms. Aferwords we braved the fog and drove to Applebee's for chocolate shakes and appetizers.

Facebook Addiction

O.kay....So I have developed a new addiction just over the last 48 hours. Facebook. My sister in-law registered and sent me an invite to view her profile. Well, in order to do that, I had to register myself. So, I registered myself and found loads of friends from high school and church that Ihad lost contact with over the years. It has been a blast finding so many people and seeing what they are up to. Also, seeing babies of old friends, family, and even seeing kids that I baby-sat with their families. I feel old. It has been fun to look at pictures and catch up and reminisce old times. It is a serious addiction and I think I might need to get some help for it. I think I spent a better part of my weekend looking people up. Good thing Jon had lots of homework to do so he didn't feel neglected. If your not already on Facebook, you need to be. It is so much fun.

Aetna Homegirls

For the last year and a half, a group of us have taken the time at least once a month and get together for dinner. We started doing this when Tina and I started working from home. It's been really nice for us so we don't feel isolated and we still have those relationships with the friends we made at work. We first started out as a card group and got together every 3 weeks to swap cards. Then it kind of dwindled down to 5 us. And now it is just us 3 girls. Tina, Debbie, and I.

Last night we went to the Olive Garden for a belated Christmas/birthday dinner. We swapped Christmas gifts and celebrated Tina's birthday. Debbie gave us cute little snowman ornaments, Tina gave muffin mix and turkey soup mix in jars (which I will for sure reuse to can), and I gave Victoria Secret Lotion gift sets. It was so much fun. We have a blast talking about what is going n in our lives and venting about work. These are my Aetna girls.

Cowboys Banquet

On January 10, Braden had his football banquet to celebrate their victorious season. Jon and I were invited to attend and we felt honored to share this with Braden and his family. Jon produced the highlight video with some of Troy's footage from all the games and a few pictures that I had taken. It is an awesome video. Jon did an excellent job on it. The boys each got a trophy, a ring, and a certificate. When each boy was called up, they had the mom's go up also to share a few things about their son. It was really nice and Danielle had a lot of nice things to say about Braden. I think the girls were bored, but in the future they'll be glad that they were their. Thanks to Braden for letting us share in his victory with him and giving us an awesome football season to watch.

Guitar Hero

O.kay......So I am addicted to Guitar Hero. Jon got me World Tour for Christmas and we got a microphone to go with it. It is so much fun and I think I play it every day. I need a life. It also has some really good songs on. Our niece and nephew, Britney and Braden, and their mom, Daniele like to play Guitar Hero also. We had them over Sunday and Braden played while I sang, Braden played and Daniele and I sang, I played while Daniele and Britney sang. We had alot of fun. Our niece, Missy, who is 7, liked it when we played No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn by the Beastie Boys and we even got her to sing the chorus to Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi. We had a blast. Now we just need the drum set and another guitar.

A New Year

It is now 2009 and time for a fresh start. We are hoping there will be lots of opportunities and doors that will be opened to us. Jon is continuing his education and should be done with his Associate's within a year after which he will transfer to the University of Utah. I will still be in Primary teaching the Sunbeams and I am really excited about that. We don't have much palnned for the year so far, but I do have a few resolutions that I hope I can keep.

1-Reading my scriptures more
2-Walking
3-Attending the Temple more often
4-Eating Healthier (however I will indulge every once in a while)
5-Having lots of fun!!!

Hopefully I can keep these up. But I am sure I will have lots of support and I know we will be blessed with the things we need. Happy New Year to all of you!!!
